Dear Mr Owen

Thank you for your request for information received on 11 April through
the [1]whatdotheyknow.com website. I can confirm we are now in a position
to provide you with a response.

Your Request

In your email you requested the following:

“Please could you let me know the total number of complaints made to the
Information Commissioners Office regarding CHURCH OF SCIENTOLOGY RELIGIOUS
EDUCATION COLLEGE INCORPORATED in connection with the Data Protection Act,
and provide information regarding whether the nature of the concern raised
was subject access, inaccurate data', or retention of data. Please also
indicate whether the concerns raised where the nature was subject access
related to the data controller exceeding the 40 calendar day deadline for
responding to subject access requests or if it was in relation to a
different subject access issue. Additionally, please could you inform me
whether any complaints against CHURCH OF SCIENTOLOGY RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
COLLEGE INCORPORATED resulted in action being taken by the ICO, and if so
what the nature of that action was”.

This was considered under section 1 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000
(the FOIA) which entitles you to information held by a public authority
that is not your personal data.

Our Response

I can confirm we do not hold information within the scope of your Freedom
of Information request for details on complaints made to the ICO relating
to the Church of Scientology Religious Education College Incorporated.

However, you may find it of interest that there are complaints relating to
the Church of Scientology which can be found on the published datasets of
our data protection casework [2]on our website

Following a search we found two cases from June and November 2016. If you
access the datasets for these months you can filter the ‘Submitted about
party’ (column P) to the Church of Scientology. The datasets also identify
the relevant legislation, Data Protection Act (DPA) or Freedom of
Information (FOI) (column B), nature of the referral (column I) and
outcome of the case (column O).

Complaint and Review Procedure

I hope this provides you with the information you require.

However, if you are dissatisfied with your request for information under
FOI and wish to request a review of our decision or make a complaint about
how your request has been handled you should write to the Information
Access Team at the address below or e-mail
[3][ICO request email].

Your request for internal review should be submitted to us within 40
working days of receipt by you of this response. Any such request received
after this time will only be considered at the discretion of the
Commissioner.

A copy of our review procedure can be accessed from our website
[4]here.

Yours sincerely
