Data on admissions - Scottish and A-level qualifications - 2016/17 and 2017/18
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am requesting data in relation to all of the Group M (undergraduate law) courses offered by your university. For avoidance of doubt, this includes the Scots Law LLB, any Common or Dual-Qualifying degrees, and any Law with a Year Abroad/ Law with a Language/ Joint Honours Law programmes.
-
Please provide the following data in relation to these courses for the 2016/17 and 2017/18 UCAS admissions cycles:
1. The offer rate for applicants who were domiciled in Scotland;
2. The offer rate for applicants who were domiciled in the rest of the UK (‘rUK’);
3. The offer rate for applicants who were domiciled in the rest of the EU (‘rEU’);
4. The offer rate for international/non-EU applicants.
5. The percentage of students who had enrolled on one of these courses having sat Scottish qualifications. For example, if 10 people enrolled in one year, and 6 had sat Scottish qualifications, the percentage would be 60%;
6. The percentage of students who had enrolled on one of these courses having sat A-levels.
7. The average entry tariff for students who enrolled at the university who had sat Scottish qualifications. For example, a student who enrolled after achieving AAAAB at Higher level and AB at Advanced Higher level would have a UCAS tariff of 263;
8. The average entry tariff for students who enrolled at the university who had sat A-levels. For example, a student who enrolled after achieving A*AA at A-level would have a UCAS tariff of 152.
Do let me know if any further clarification is required.
Best Regards,
John Dimitroulopoulos

Dear John
Following your recent request for information, please can you clarify what
you mean by offer rate for question 1? Do you mean a ratio/percentage or
the grades that we offered on?
Many thanks
Kim

Hello,
The offer rate is:
the number of students who applied for a given course
divided by
the number of students who received offers for that given course
multiplied by 100
Yours sincerely,

Hello,
Thank you for your response. I have two points to raise about it:
A) Would it be possible for someone to review the percentages data provided in response to Questions 1, 2, 3 and 4? Right now, the percentages add up to 300-something percent. My instinct was that the data was provided in cumulative form. If so, does this mean that 63% of the students at the university are International and only 10% Scottish in terms of domicile?
B) Would it be possible to provide a new link to Questions 7 and 8? Right now, the link takes me to a defunct website. Besides, if my memory serves me right, Unistats only had a breakdown of entry tariffs for the entire student body across all entry qualifications (including e.g. the IB, Access to HE diplomas, and HNDs). By contrast, I'm looking to isolate the average entry tariffs for two qualifications only (Scottish Highers/Advanced Highers and A-levels).
Thank you in advance for your continued support.
Yours sincerely,
John Dimitroulopoulos
Dear John
Thanks very much for your email. Just to confirm, I have forward your
first question to the department who originally answered questions 1-4.
With regards to question 7-8, I have been able to access the Unistats
website using Firefox as a search engine if this assists you. I will
however send your followup question to the department who provided the
link to see if they can provide more information for these questions.
I'll be back in touch as soon as I can.
Best wishes
Kim

Information Requested:
I have attached our original response and also answers to your follow up
questions copied below.
A) Would it be possible for someone to review the percentages data

was provided in cumulative form. If so, does this mean that 63% of the

terms of domicile?
The data provided is based on the calculation provided in your
clarification email dated 29^th August 2019 and is therefore a percentage
of the applicants in each respective group who were made an offer and is
therefore a percentage of that group and not a percentage of the total
number of offers made.
B) Would it be possible to provide a new link to Questions 7 and 8? Right
now, the link takes me to a defunct website. Besides, if my memory serves
