Dear Alison Green
Thank you for your e-mail received 26 March 2009 requesting information about the numbers of dogs seized by the council dog wardens between 01/01/08 and 01/01/09 under section 1 of Dangerous Dogs Act 1991.
Jacquie Harris in the Customer Services Department will arrange for the information to be provided to you no later than 27/04/09.
Whilst it is the Council's policy to provide information wherever possible, I need to advise you that there are a number of exemptions under the Freedom of Information Act 2000. Dear Ms Harris ,
thank you for your response. Could I draw your attention to question 5 regarding stray dogs. As these dogs are not seized under section one of the DDA could you confirm if the answer of 0 is applicabe to the number of stray dogs, held by your council, destroyed as pit bull types due to no owner coming forward?
Yours sincerely,
Alison Green
Good afternoon Alison
I'm sorry for the delay in my response, the person I needed to speak to has just returned from Easter break.
I apologise for our misunderstanding of question 5. I can confirm that there have been 2 dogs (Pit Bull and Pit Bull Cross) that have come into our possession as stray dogs during the stated period, which we have unfortunately had to destroy due to no owner coming forward.
I hope this provides you with the information you require.
Kind regards
Jacquie
