The request was refused by West Mercia Police.

Dear West Mercia Police,

I write with reference to The Dangerous Dogs Act, 1991 (amended), under the Freedom of Information Act, and ask for your kind reply, as follows:

In the most recent full year for which you hold records (please provide date range), how many of the dogs seized by your force under Section 1 of the Act had a cross over with Section 3 (that is, were suspected of being out of control in any form)?

Yours faithfully,

advised that the information that you have requested is not available in a
readily retrievable format. The information requested is not held in an
electronically searchable format, and there are in excess of 100 records
which would have to be manually reviewed in order for us to identify the
relevant information for your request. It has been estimated that it would
take approximately 15 minutes to manually review each record. Therefore
the cost of providing you with the information is above the amount to
which we are legally required to respond i.e. the cost of locating and
retrieving the information exceeds the ‘appropriate level’ as stated in
the Freedom of Information (Fees and Appropriate Limit) Regulations 2004.
In accordance with section 16 of the Act I have a duty to provide advice
and assistance in relation to your request.  However, due to the volume of
records I have been unable to identify data which could be provided within
the cost ceiling as the information held on this subject has been manually
input onto a database from other records.
Every effort has been made to ensure that the response provided by our
Force Operations Department is as accurate as possible
Your attention is drawn to the below which details your right of
