Danger wreck of the SS Richard Montgomery

Department for Transport did not have the information requested.

Dear Sir or Madam,
Please confirm or deny the existence of chemical or biological weapons, or their component parts.( Not nuclear or radioactive) as being aboard the wreck of the liberty ship SS Richard Montgomery at sheerness, Kent. Note: none are shown in the cargo manifest(but nor were they shown on the liberty ship that exploded with mustard gas aboard in Bari Italy on 2nd Dec 1943) To state that they were not in the manifest would not be the information required.
I was referred to yourselves by M.O.D who did not hold this information.

Yours faithfully

This reply does NOT answer the question of whether or not the additional danger of chemical or biological materials are on board the wreck. I had extensively researched the matter including the suggestions to sources made, before asking for the information from them, and are still no wiser....

100lb, M47 Bomb, Smoke, Phosphorus, WP, or 100lb, M47A1 (100lb charge of WP) listed by the MCA in their reports. (1,249 cases 65 tons)

[these are classified as chemical bombs, data from TM 9-1980 Bombs for Aircraft 1944]

and yet their reply above from the MCA/DfT said "the cargo manifest does not list any such material" this statement is wrong and is a contradictory one, as these bombs are listed in their 2000 report?

Another error in their report? "There have never been a record of any near misses of a collision with the wreck", (report of 2000)

In 1980 the small Danish Fuel Tanker “Mare Altum”, the Daily Mail reported the story 7 days later under the heading Blast Fear Over Thames – Near Miss the captain of the tanker was find £200,000 for Careless Navigation.
