REPLY: Please be advised that the 'Event Aggravating Factor' of 'Religion
- Muslim' was not used until 2016 therefore searches have been conducted
for all offences recorded in West Mercia and Warwickshire between
01/01/2015 and 04/10/2017 for specific keywords relating to Islamaphobia
in the Modus Operandi (MO). Also for all offences recorded between
01/01/2015 and 04/10/2017 where the 'Event Aggravating Factor' is
'Religion - Muslim'.
A new recording system has been introduced by the forces since then and
this has been searched for all offences recorded between 04/10/2017 and
30/11/2017 where the 'Event Aggravating Factor' is 'Religion - Muslim'.
Please note the required Markers to identify Islamaphobic attacks are not
yet used consistently in the new recording system - Athena, and this data
set may be under recorded.
Please see the attached tables for the results returned.
