[FOI #450627 email] Date 05 January 2018

Dear Mr Inness

I write in connection with your request for information dated 5^th January
2017 under the Freedom of Information Act.

Specifically you asked:

Could you please provide me with the number of Islamaphobic hate crimes
reported between 1st January 2015 and 30th November 2017 broken down by
the day they were reported.

Our response:

I am unable to provide you with the information broken down by specific
date of each incident as to provide all the information together would
identify personal information.

The exemption applicable to this is Section 40(2), third party personal
information. This is an Absolute exemption so therefore there is no
requirement to conduct a harm or public interest test. Any information is
exempt from disclosure under the Freedom of Information Act if it relates
to or is supplied by another individual and disclosure of that information
would contravene any of the principles of the 1998 Data Protection Act, in
this particular case, disclosure of this information would contravene
Principles 1 and 2 of the Act, whereby personal data shall be processed
fairly and lawfully and only obtained for one or more specified purpose or
purposes.

If you were to amend your request, I may be able to assist in providing
some information which is of use to you. For example, you may wish to
request a breakdown of crimes month/year. This could then be assessed for
suitability for disclosure.

Yours sincerely

Rebecca Pritchard
