Daily rates of disability-related hate crimes 2019

The request was partially successful.

Dear Durham Constabulary,

Please could you provide me with the number of disability-related hate crimes reported between 1st January 2019 and 31st December 2019, broken down by the day they were reported.

To be clear, I would like the total number for each day separately, so a sample dataset could have every date in 2019 in the first column and the number of reports made in the second column. If you could provide this in excel, or other spreadsheet, format, that would be great.

Additionally, if possible, could you further break down these numbers into offence type (public order, violence against the person with injury, violence against the person without injury, stalking, harassment, criminal damage, arson, other etc.). I would also like this data at a daily level. However, if that is not possible, then I would still like the first half of the request.

Yours faithfully,

Emily Silcock

Freedom of Information,

Good afternoon,

With regards to your FOI request (558/23 refers), the information you have requested would only be available on a month-by-month basis rather than a daily basis. Do you still want to proceed with your request but adapted so that the information is monthly?

Yours sincerely

Dear Durham Constabulary,

Many thanks for your quick response - it is much appreciated.

Could you let me know why it is not possible to provide the data at a daily level? You have previously been able to provide similar data at a daily level. For example, the FOI request with reference DC/FOI/1106/17 (also available at https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/d...) asked for daily data on Islamophobic hate crimes.

Yours sincerely,
Emily Silcock

Freedom of Information,

Good afternoon,

With regards to your FOI request (558/23 refers), the reason that the data would be provided on a month-by-month level is due to the potential sample size of the data being returned given the request was for it to be sub categorised according to offence. Potentially, this would mean that victims could be identified and as such the request would have to be exempted under Section 40 (Personal Information). If the data is provided on a month-by-month basis there is less chance of this being the case. Would the data on a month-by-month basis be acceptable?

Yours sincerely

Dear Durham Police,

Many thanks for your reply.

Would it be possible to have the data (still at a daily level), but with just the total number of disability-related hate crimes per day ie. without the breakdown by offence type?

Many thanks,
Emily Silcock
