Dear Emily Silcock,
Thank you for your Freedom of Information (FoI) requests received on 6-8 September. An
example of what you wrote is inserted below but the individual requests cover the period 2013
to 2022:
FOI2023/68472, FOI2023/68473, FOI2023/68474, FOI2023/68475, FOI2023/68477,
FOI2023/68478, FOI2023/68479, FOI2023/68480, FOI2023/69059, FOI2023/69067
“I would like to request the number of applications made for Personal Independence
Payment, at a daily level, for each day in 2017, only including those applications that were
made in England.
To be clear, I would like the total number for each day separately, so a sample dataset
could have every date in 2017 in the first column and the applications in the second column.
The date should be the date that the initial application was made, not the date of the
decision - and I would like all applications, whether or not they were successful.”
DWP Response
We confirm that we do hold the information you have requested.
A copy of the information is provided in the attached PDF in the format requested.
The table shows the number of Personal Independence Payment (PIP) registrations made on
each day from 2013 to 2022 in England.
Source: PIP Atomic Data Store (ADS)
Notes:
• Figures have been rounded to the nearest 10;
• Figures are for England only, and exclude any cases where the region was unknown;
• Figures include claims made under normal rules and special rules for terminal illness.
They include both new claims and Disability Living Allowance (DLA) to PIP
reassessment claims;
• This is unpublished data. It should be used with caution and may be subject to future
revision.
Please note that as all of your requests are asking for the same information we have
grouped them together to provide an aggregated response. And would advise that for
any future requests asking for the same information one request is submitted covering
the whole time series.
