Cycling close pass operations and close pass submissions

Cleveland Police and Crime Commissioner did not have the information requested.

Sarah Riddiough

Dear Cleveland Police and Crime Commissioner,

I am requesting the following information for the years 2019, 2020 & 2021.

How many cycling close pass operations have cleveland police completed in the year 2019, 2020 & 2021?
What locations & specifically what roads did these close pass operations take place?
What day of the week and time of day did these operations take place and what duration of time was spent out on the roads carrying out these close pass operations?

During these close pass operations how many motorists did cleveland police provide driver awareness and advice to, for:
Close passing of police cyclist
Caught using mobile phones during a close pass operation.

What methods of education were used with motorists, was this visual aids, such as safe distance floor mats or verbal advice only?

What distance do police advise is too close (what constitutes a close pass?, specifically, what distance do officers state a motorist must leave and does the safe distance vary based on motorist speed? )

In regards to cycling close pass submissions, which have been submitted by cyclists
In the years 2019, 2020 & 2021, by year, how many submissions were received?
Of these close pass submissions how many (for each year) led to a motorist being given verbal advice/education/driver awareness course/points/ fpn/no action (please provide a break down of how these were dealt with) .

I look forward to your reply

Yours faithfully,

Mrs Riddiough
