I have dealt with your request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

Part one, three and four

In relation to parts one, three and four, I can confirm that the
Department pays £228+VAT per annum to Carillion, which is our Facilities
Management contractor, to maintain the items detailed below.  Carillion
have a three year contract ending 31/01/2013 with an option to extend for
a further 1 to 2 years.

Fortnightly Service Area - 4 Graphite Grey CYL 3 planters
Maintenance with Reception/Lift Lobby 95cm tall with palms by the
Plant replacement windows on either side of the
front doors
Fortnightly Service Area - 2 Graphite Grey CYL 3 planters
Maintenance with Reception/Lift Lobby 95cm tall with palms opposite
Plant replacement the lifts
Monthly maintenance. DCMS - Ground floor 4 Graphite Grey CYL 3 planters
No replacement. conference rooms 95cm tall with both tall and
low planting 2 in each
conference room
Monthly maintenance. DCMS - Ground floor 3 Graphite Grey CYL 3 planters
No replacement. conference rooms 95cm tall planted Kentia and
under planting in foyer outside
conference rooms

All other plants in Departmental buildings do not incur any costs.

Part two

In relation to part two of your request the Department does not hold a
record of the amount of plants within the Departmental buildings.
