Dear Mr Peace

I write in connection with your request for information dated 25^th May
under the Freedom of Information Act.

Specifically you asked:

Please disclose the current number of serving;

a) police officers

b) support staff

with criminal records.

Our response:

The Professional Standards Department record details of Criminal
Convictions held by serving Police Officers and Staff members, however,
this record only includes criminal convictions over and above endorsable
fixed penalty notices such as speeding tickets, parking fines, driving
without a seat belt etc.

19 serving Police Officers and 7 serving Police Staff have been convicted
of criminal offences.

There may be some Officers or staff members who were convicted prior to
joining the Constabulary and therefore their details may not have been
captured on this list. The reason being that the officer/staff member
would have declared the conviction to the vetting unit during the
recruitment process but they only have to declare it to PSD if the role
they have been appointed into means that they may become part of an
evidential chain OR if they move into a role that requires them to become
part of an evidential chain.

Yours sincerely

Michelle Radcliffe
