Current Schedule of Contracts
Dear Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency,
I would like to request the current “Schedule of Contracts” information from the division that deals with procurement. We understand that there is a legal requirement for public bodies to compile a register of contracts detailing, but not included to:
• What the contract is for
• Who the contract is with
• The contract value
• The length of the contract
• The start and expiry date of each contact
• Any other supporting information.
Yours faithfully,
C. Graham
Dear Enquirer,
Thank you for your enquiry to the Information Centre at the MHRA.
Please accept this automated response as acknowledgement that your
enquiry has been received and will be dealt with as quickly as
possible.
Your enquiry will be dealt with as follows; straightforward requests
should expect a reply within a few days, those requiring a more detailed
response or contribution from a specialist are likely to take longer.
We endeavour to provide a response to all enquiries as quickly as
possible, and within the Department of Health's target response time of
20 working days. For further information about the service and
timeframes provided by the CEP, please view the information published at
the 'Contact Us' section of our website at the following link:

If you have not heard from us after that time then please contact us on

Kind regards

Dear C Graham
I am writing to advise you that we are unlikely to be able to reply to
your FOIA request (which asks for the MHRA's 'Schedule of Contracts')
within the 20 days deadline. This is because the MHRA does not have a
register of contracts which details the information you have requested.
Each Division of the MHRA has responsibility for managing its own
contracts rather than there being a single division responsible for the
centralised control of contracts. I have therefore asked each Division
to supply me with the information you have requested: once I have all
the returns I will collate their responses and forward them to you.
I note your comment about a legal requirement for public bodies to have
a register of contracts. My understanding is that although such a
register is desirable, and the MHRA is exploring the best way of
compiling one and publishing it within our Publication Scheme, it is not
a legal requirement at present.
I apologise for the delay, and I hope to be able to give a substantive
reply to your request shortly.
Yours faithfully
Martin Bagwell

Dear Mr Bagwell,
Thank you for advising me of the delay. I very much appreciate the extensive work the Agency is performing to answer my request, and look forward to your reply.
Yours sincerely,
C. Graham
Dear C Graham
I am still collating the information you requested. In the meantime, you

Dear Mr Bagwell,
Please advise me as to how far this FOI request has progressed - it has been 18 days since your last response.
Yours sincerely,
C. Graham
Dear C Graham
I apologise for the delay, but I have been out of the office for much of
last week. I attach what we have collated to date. Please note that I am
still awaiting information from one part of the Agency, so there will be
a further response to come to complete our reply to your request. Please
also note that the values of some contacts have been withheld as they
are soon to be renegotiated, and therefore it is our view that to
release details at this time would run the risk of compromising those
negotiations. The details have therefore been withheld under section 43
(information the release of which would cause commercial harm). I have
considered the public interest in releasing the withheld information,
but in this case have concluded that the public interest in maintaining
exemption 43 of the FOI Act is greater than any public information in
release.
If you are dissatisfied with the handling of your request, you have the
right to ask for an internal review. Internal review requests should be
submitted within two months of the date of receipt of the response to
your original letter and should be addressed to: [contact name and
address]
Please remember to quote the reference number above in any future
communications.
If you are not content with the outcome of the internal review, you have
the right to apply directly to the Information Commissioner for a
decision. The Information Commissioner can be contacted at: Information
Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire,
SK9 5AF.
