Dear Mr Palmer,
Release of Information
Thank you for your correspondence of 20 August 2020 in which you requested
the following
information:
‘I am hoping to find any current financial recruitment incentives for those wishing to
rejoin the Royal Navy and if applicable, the appropriate amounts respective to rank
and branch.’
Your enquiry has been considered to be a request for information in accordance with
the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the Act).
A search has now been completed within the Ministry of Defence and I can confirm that
information in scope of your request is held. In response to your request I can tell you that
the only current financial recruitment incentive for those wishing to re-join the Royal Navy
(RN) is the Royal Marines (RM) Re-Join Bounty (RJB).
The RM RJB is a single payment of £10,000 for three years Return of Service, it is only
available to former RM personnel who have previously served on a regular permanent
pensionable engagement within the RM and held the substantive rank of Marine or Lance
corporal.
Under Section 16 (Duty to Provide Advice and Assistance) of the Act, information
regarding re-joining the RN and RM can be found on the RN website at the following links:
