Freedom Of Information (Norfolk), Norfolk Constabulary

During the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic our practices may not meet our usual response times and it may take longer for us to respond to your requests. We will continue to work normally as far as we can, but, as the situation continues to develop, the focus of the team may need to be diverted to the most important aspects of work, which may place unavoidable strain on our resources that we cannot avoid.
Due to the current volume of work, we are unable to provide individual responses regarding updates on requests. We ask that you please bare with us during this extraordinary period and we will endeavour to provide final disclosures to you as soon as possible.

Please accept this email as confirmation that your request for information has been received.

We aim to provide you with a response by 15th June 2020. During the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic our practices may not meet our usual response times and it may take longer for us to respond to your FOI request. Dear S Rhosier

Freedom of Information Act Request 001657/20

I refer to your request for information regarding officer details.

The Freedom of Information Act obliges the Constabularies to respond to requests promptly and in any case no later than the 20 working days after receiving a request. We must consider firstly whether we can comply with section 1(1)(a) of the Act, which is our duty to confirm whether or not the information requested is held and secondly we must comply with section 1(1)(b), which is the provision of such information. However, when a qualified exemption applies either to the confirmation or denial, or the information provision and the public interest test is engaged, the Act allows the time for response to be longer than 20 working days, if the balance of such public interest is undetermined.

In this case, we have not yet reached a decision on where the balance of the public interest lies in respect of 1(1)(b) above. We estimate that it will take an additional 10 days to make a decision on where the balance lies. Therefore, we aim to provide you with a response by 29th June 2020.

The specific exemptions that are being considered are:

o Section 31 - Law Enforcement
o Section 38 - Health & Safety
o Section 40 - Personal Information

Yours sincerely
