Current maternity unit guidelines for partners attending appts, birth and neonatal care

Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust did not have the information requested.

Dear Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust,

Please can the trust advise on their current maternity department regulations broken down by individual unit on allowing partners/birth partners to attend the following:

• Antenatal scans. Please advise which scans partners are able to attend:
o All antenatal scans
o Dating scans
o Anomaly scans
o No scans
o If scanning/screening shows a problem are partners allowed to attend subsequent scans?

• Antenatal appointments
• Labour – is a partner able to be with the mother during the whole of labour?
• Are partners able to spend time in hospital with their babies and the mother following the birth?

In addition, please can the trust advise on their regulations regarding parents spending time with their babies should they require neonatal care?

• Are both parents able to spend time with their babies in neonatal care?
• Are there time restrictions on how long parents can spend with their babies in neonatal care?
• Please confirm if each baby is able to have the same amount of time with parents whether they are a singleton or a multiple birth?

Many thanks

Yours faithfully,

Nikki Roberts
