Dear Department for Education,

Under the freedom of information act of 2000, can you please send me a list
of all primary and secondary schools in England and Wales with the
addresses, contact telephone numbers, name of head teacher and an
email address for each head teacher or school office email address. If this can be provided in excel format or similar that would be appreciated
Note i requested this previously however the list sent was out of date.
for example Mr Christopher Middleton is listed as head master at Bishop Lonsdale, Eccleshall in Staffordshire.
This is not correct, my son attends this school. Mr.Middleton has been gone quite some considerable time (2017) there is currently a female head teacher at the school. Mr Middleton is now head master at another school.

Can i please have an up to date and correct list as requested please.

Yours faithfully,

Calum McInnes

Dear Calum McInnes

Thank you for your request for information received on 18 March 2018. You
requested:

“Under the freedom of information act of 2000, can you please send me a
list of all primary and secondary schools in England and Wales with the
addresses, contact telephone numbers, name of head teacher and an email
address for each head teacher or school office email address. If this can
be provided in excel format or similar that would be appreciated Note i
requested this previously however the list sent was out of date.

for example Mr Christopher Middleton is listed as head master at Bishop
Lonsdale, Eccleshall in Staffordshire.

This is not correct, my son attends this school.  Mr.Middleton  has been
gone quite some considerable time (2017) there is currently a female head
teacher at the school. Mr Middleton is now head master at another school.

Can i please have an up to date and correct list as requested please.”

I have dealt with your request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

A csv file containing data from the Get Information about Schools (GIAS)
website as at 27 March 2018 is enclosed. The file contains a standard
extract of all educational establishments in England.

We rely on schools to maintain the Headteacher details, schools are
required to confirm that the details on GIAS are correct every 90 days.

We are withholding the email address of the head teacher under section
40(2) (personal data), this is because the information in question
includes 3rd party personal data.  Personal data is that which relates to
a living individual who can be identified from that data, or from that
data and other information which is likely to be in, or to come into, the
possession of the requestor.  Disclosure of this information would
contravene a number of the data protection principles in the Data
Protection Act 1998, and would be regarded as ‘unfair’.  By that, we mean
the likely expectations of the data subject that his or her information
would not be disclosed to others and the effect which disclosure would
have on the data subject.  Section 40(2) is an absolute exemption and is
not subject to the public interest test.

I have supplied you with the school email address where available.

Further information on the terms used within this extract can be found in
the GIAS glossary:  [1]www.get-information-schools.service.gov.uk/glossary
