The request was successful.

Dear Department of Justice (Northern Ireland),

On average, what does a Crown Court case cost the tax payer and what does a Magistrates Court case cost the tax payer?

Could you also tell me please, how many cases in total were dealt with at both Northern Ireland's magistrates courts and also crown courts - separately please for every year from 2012-16 inclusive.

Many thanks,

Shauna Corr

Dear Communications Group,

I mean in total on average, so that would be both, but if you could divide in terms of legal aid and court costs that would be great.

Would the cost of solicitors/ barristers be entirely within the legal aid costs?

Yours sincerely,

Shauna
