Dear Tendring District Council,

The Road Traffic (The Removal and Disposal of Vehicles) Regulations 1986 control the disposal of abandoned vehicles.

Please supply the criteria under which you identify whether a vehicle is abandoned or not.

Yours faithfully,

Richard Everett

Dear Tendring District Council,

You will be aware that I have sent you a request on 14th August via whatdotheyknow regarding criteria for abandoned vehicles. Strangely I have not received an acknowledgement. I am taking this opportunity to remind you that the deadline for your substantive response is looming and that if you have not replied by the deadline I will be escalating this to an internal review.

Yours faithfully,

Richard Everett

Dear Tendring District Council,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Tendring District Council's handling of my FOI request 'Criteria for Abandoned Vehicles'.

Despite acknowledging that the response was to be undertaken by 13th September Tendring District Council has not done so. As this is a simple request for policy type information, and does not relate to any ongoing investigations, there is really no excuse for not responding in the required timeframe set down by law.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/c...

Yours faithfully,

Richard Everett

Dear Mr Everett,

Further to your request for information regarding criteria for abandoned
vehicles, which was received 14/08/19, please find attached the Council’s
standard operating procedure (SOP) for abandoned vehicles. Please note
that procedures are always subject to change and this particular procedure
is currently being edited to take into account abandoned vehicles on
private land.

Please be advised that this SOP is by no means a definitive list, but is
used as a guidance, this is because each and every potential abandoned
vehicle can have their own unique background circumstances which has to be
taken into account.

I would like to take this opportunity to pass on the Authority’s sincerest
apologies in the delay of a response and the lack of communication
regarding your request.
