DBS Subject Access, Disclosure and Barring Service

Dear Ms Gibbs,

Thank you for your enquiry.

If your enquiry is in relation to DBS Checks then in order for the check to be carried out you are required to complete an application and provide relevant identity documentation to organisation submitting the check. On completion of the check a copy of the certificate is issued to you for you to then show to your employer/potential employer. As this is the case if any DBS Checks have been processed for you then you would have received a copy.

If however you require access to copies of information held about you relating to previously submitted checks and print outs of the results then you can apply for 'subject access'. (Please note this is not a duplicate certificate or an updated check). I would advise you to read the guidance notes provided at the following link which will provide you with information regarding the identification that is required for SAR requests. Whilst it is not mandatory that you complete an application form you may wish to have a look at it and ensure you provide the relevant information to us in order for us to locate your information.

I hope this information is of assistance.

Dear DBS Subject Access,
Thank you for your response. As detailed in your response I have received no copies of certificates in relation to any authorised checks. This leads me to believe that I have been checked without my consent and therefore would like to know which person(s) have accessed my record.

Yours sincerely,

Samantha Gibbs
