Criminal offences and taxi drivers

We're waiting for Daisy Raine-Ellerker to read recent responses and update the status.

Daisy Raine-Ellerker

Dear Lincoln City Council,
I am writing to request information regarding hidden criminal offences of taxi drivers in the working year of 2015 to 2016 in the county of Lincolnshire.
I would like to know what offences taxi drivers have committed, what are the top 5 most popular crimes committed by taxi drivers.
Is there often taxi vehicle checks?
Also, how many complaints have you had about taxi drivers in this given time?

Yours faithfully,

Daisy Raine-Ellerker

Dear Ms ,

I refer to your request for information received on 14:11:26 24 Oct 2017
concerning the above and enclose the information requested.

By using the term ‘taxi driver’ I will assume that you mean both Private
Hire and Hackney Carriage drivers.
I am afraid that I can only answer the question on behalf of Lincoln City
Council and not the entire County of Lincolnshire.
Any applicant that has convictions must go before the Hackney Carriage and
Private Hire Licensing Sub-Committee for them to determine the suitability
of the applicant.
We are unable to disclose offences under the Data Protection Act 1998.
Full details of the past convictions including the nature of the crime
committed, the years in which offences were carried out and the length of
sentence served are not retained in accordance with the Disclosure and
Barring Service’s Codes of Practice.
No central database is kept in relation to driver complaints, they are
stored on each driver file.
Vehicle checks are conducted every 6 months.

If you wish to appeal against the handling of your request then please
contact the Freedom of Information Officer at the City of Lincoln Council,
City Hall, Beaumont Fee, Lincoln, LN1 1DB. Telephone 01522 873441 or
