Creating a private community force
Dear West Yorkshire Police,
Could you please inform me if it is legal to create a localised private-funded peacekeeping force acting with the powers such as citizens arrest, etc.? The force would act like police with local and regular patrols and community engagements whilst also alleviating the strain on West Yorkshire Police's funds.
Yours faithfully,
Abigail Barnet

Dear Ms Barnet
Freedom of Information if for the request of recorded information. There is no recorded information specific to your request.
Law enforcement is the responsibility of law enforcement agencies. There is always the danger that members of the public 'acting like the police' could interfere with ongoing police/law enforcement investigations therefore this would not be advised.
