'Cowboy Builder' Compliants for Wales - Regional Breakdown

The request was partially successful.

Dear The National Association of Citizens Advice Bureaux,

I hope you're well.

I would like to request a regional breakdown of complaints received in relation to home maintenance and improvements in Wales for the following periods.

-2019/20
-2020/21
-2021/22 (to date)

If there is also data on the type of work the complaints relate to (Roofing, Fitted Kitchens, Fitted Windows and Doors, Plumbers etc.) this would also be beneficial.

Yours faithfully,

James Olliver

Dear James,

Freedom of Information Act 2000 (‘FoIA’)
Thank you for your email dated 11 May 2022 for information on "regional
breakdown of complaints received in relation to home maintenance and
improvements in Wales" for the periods 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022. Wales
is not divided into regions on our database.

The information you requested is attached.

We do not verify any complaints made to the consumer service, we only
record what the client tells us so that we may advise accordingly or make
an appropriate referral to trading standards.

We cannot provide detailed information about the complaints received as
the nature of the information we hold may identify the data subject(s) or
individual complainants particularly when figures become relatively low
for a certain area and category.  This would constitute personal data as
defined in chapter 12, part 1, section 3 (2) of the Data Protection Act
2018 and is therefore exempt from disclosure under Section 40(2) of the
Freedom of Information Act. To disclose such personal data to you would
breach the Data Protection Principles.

The information supplied to you continues to be protected by copyright.
You are free to use it for your own purposes, including for private study
and non-commercial research, and for any other purpose authorised by an
exception in current copyright law. Any other reuse, for example
commercial publication, would require the permission of the copyright
holder.
