Covid sift of Work Capability Assessments
Dear Department for Work and Pensions,
On 20th July, the minister for disabled people, Justin Tomlinson MP, told parliament in a written answer: "Face-to-face assessments for universal credit and ESA were paused due to COVID-19 from 17 March 2020. Telephone assessments began a piloted roll out from 04 May 2020 where only limited capability for work related activity recommendations were being made"
I would like to know how claimants were being sifted to assess whether a limited capability for work related activity recommendation would be made.
Please forward any guidance made for both DWP and CHDA staff relating to how you established which claimants to assess and how that assessment was then conducted.
Yours faithfully,
Dan Manville
