Dear Magherafelt District Council,

I am requesting information as per the following.

On the 12 th Nov 2014, a group called the County Derry Centenaries Group hosted a meeting in the Bridewell Magherafelt. On its adverts it stated that it was supported by OFMDFM & Magherafelt Council.

I am requesting :
1- In what way was it support, under what application did it receive support and for a copy of any and all forms relating to County Derry Centenaries Group requesting for support
2- A copy of all financial support given to County Derry Centenaries Group to host this meeting that should include a total sum of a) finance awarded b) finance applied for along with supporting documentation

Dear Hugh

Thank you for your email which we received on the 01 December 2014 regarding the County Derry Centenaries Group.
Your request has been dealt with under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

I can advise that the County Derry Centenaries Group was established in 2012 to remember the centenaries in a non triumphant manner.

They had a public meeting in the Bridewell, Magherafelt, on Wednesday 12 November 2014 commencing at 7.30 pm.
The title was ' Neither King nor Kaiser - Where stands the Irish Left today?'

This event was funded from Magherafelt District Council's Good Relations Programme under the TBAUC ' Our Cultural Expression' priority.

This programme was approved by Council on the 25 February 2014.

Action :- 'Continue to support the delivery of a programme of work with local community representatives to promote understanding of the background and rationale for the commemmorations still to be held over the coming years, and facilitate local groups to participate in commemorative events.'

This event was attended by approximately 80 people.

The costs were as follows :-

Hire of the Bridewell :- £180

Hire of the PA system and lighting :- £350

Fee for the chairperson :- £50

Fee for speaker :- £50 ( two other speakers didn't charge a fee)

Printing of flyers :- £250

Refreshments ;- £200

Total cost = £1,080
