Dear applicant

Thank you for your information request dated the 14th February 2018
regarding student mental ill-health.  Your request has been handled under
Scottish legislation: the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002
(FOISA).  Thank you also for giving us an opportunity to contribute to
your research.  Please also note that not all universities record
information in the same manner.

Please see the enclosed Facts and Figures which were developed in order to
minimise the impact of the increasingly large number of FOISA requests on
our Student Wellbeing service which actually provides the counselling
service to the students. The information is presented in the manner in
which we report and a more detailed breakdown would mean that staff and
counsellors would have to look through their files and this would impact
on the service being provided to our students presenting with mental
ill-health.  We hope you find enclosed useful.  The Facts and figures also
provides you with details of initiatives which our University is taking in
order to enhance the effectiveness of our students mental ill-health.
Please also visit our website for more details about how we support the
wellbeing of our students.

If we can be of any further assistance, please do not hesitate in
contacting us via [1][Heriot-Watt University request email]
