Council tax rebate 2014 onwards

Martyn Dewar made this Freedom of Information request to Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was successful.

Dear Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea,

Request under the Freedom of Information Act

It has been widely reported that RBKC issued a Council Tax rebate of £100 to residents in 2014, along with a letter from the Council Leader, Mr Nicolas Paget-Brown explaining why RKBC was able to do so. Quotes from that letter have been included, for example, in The Guardian [1].

I can appreciate the Council is naturally extremely busy at the moment owing to the tragic accident at Grenfell Tower, however, I would appreciate if you could answer the following:

1) Please provide a copy of the letter issued to the residents who received the rebate
2) Who approved the issue of said rebate? Is there minutes detailing this, if so, can you supply them?
3) Please confirm the total number of these rebates that was issued, and the total amount in monetary terms.
4) Please confirmif these rebates have been issued in subsequent years, and, if so, I'd appreciate the same information as requested in questions 1-3.

Your help is appreciated in this matter.

Yours faithfully,

Martyn Dewar
