Dear Rushmoor Borough Council,

Council tax on-line payment

If a payment is made on-line or by automated 24 hour telephone do you automatically set up a payment plan without the customers knowledge or what is the time frame for the customer to tell the council that they do not want a payment plan set up ?

Yours faithfully,

Ms Hayley Court

Dear Hayley Court

Thank for your Freedom of Information request concerning online Council
Tax payments.

I confirm that if a payment is made online or via the 24 hour telephone
service, we do not automatically set up a payment plan without the
customers knowledge.

Customers will generally have an instalment plan that will have been set
in advance for the current financial year dependent on the amount payable.

If a customer falls into arrears, they will need to negotiate a payment
plan with the council to clear these arrears; a payment plan will not be
created based on an online payment or by the automated 24 hour telephone
payments.

I hope that this answers your question satisfactorily, but if you are
unhappy with the reply you have received, I attach a link to the Council’s
Complaints Procedure, which is the means by which you may request the
Council to review it.
