Council Tax non payment.

A. Clerk made this Freedom of Information request to HM Courts and Tribunals Service This request has been closed to new correspondence. Contact us if you think it should be reopened.

The request was partially successful.

Dear Her Majesty’s Courts and the Tribunals Service,

As non payment of council tax is a "Civil" matter, yet people have been jailed for non payment by magistrates courts. Can you please furnish me with documentation which gives magistrates the right to do so.

Yours faithfully,

A. Clerk
