Council Tax Increase

This request has been withdrawn by the person who made it. There may be an explanation in the correspondence below.

Dear Hertsmere Borough Council,

Council Tax bills have gone up in 2016/17 and 2017/18 by significantly more than inflation. This places an enormous burden on residents.

What was the Hertfordshire Council's total salary bill and how much has been paid in bonuses to staff in the following years?:

- 2013/14
- 2014/15
- 2015/16
- 2016/17

Can you state how many residents (both in numbers and as a percentage) have failed to pay their council tax on time in each of these years?

Can you state how many residents (both in numbers and as a percentage) have been prosecuted for failing to pay their council tax in each of these years?

Finally, can you state the total council tax lost (both in numbers and as a percentage) in each of these years?

Yours faithfully,

Brian Ellis

foi, Hertsmere Borough Council

Dear Mr Ellis,

Thank you for submitting your Freedom of Information request. Before we answer the first question, may I ask for some clarification. You ask for the salary bill of Hertfordshire Council's salary bill and how much has been paid in staff bonuses - did you mean Hertfordshire or Hertsmere? We can provide information on Hertsmere Borough Council but not for Hertfordshire County Council which is a different organisation.

If it was Hertfordshire Council that you are interested in then that body is also subject to the Freedom of Information Act and will respond to your question.

Regards
