Council Tax Benefit Consultation Exercises

We're waiting for Andy Platt to read a recent response and update the status.

Dear Nottingham City Council,

Please could you provide me with the following information under the Freedom of Information Act.

NCC recently carried out a pre-consultation exercise which they have used to draw up the proposals for the local Council Tax reduction scheme. Please will you send me the results of that exercise?

NCC is now consulting formally on those proposals. It seems safe to presume that, in drawing these up, expected resultant costs savings have been estimated for each individual proposal. Please will you send me the calculations for these estimates?

Finally, the Local Government Finance Bill includes the possibility for increasing Council Tax for certain types of empty properties and second homes. Please tell me whether NCC has considered the potential financial gains from increasing such charges and, if so, please send me copies of any example calculations of potential extra revenue raised that have been carried out.

Re all of the above, I should clarify that I am only asking for policy documents and calculations that have already been carried out, I am not asking for new ones to be made for my benefit.

Yours faithfully,

Andy Platt

Dear Nottingham City Council,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Nottingham City Council's handling of my FOI request 'Council Tax Benefit Consultation Exercises'.

I have not received a response to my request despite the statutory time long being passed and the fact that you are aware that I need the information to respond to the consultation exercise which ends in a week. Anybody might think that you are deliberately withholding the info so as to make it more difficult for me to respond.

A non-reply constitutes an effective refusal and I would like to request a review of that refusal.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address:
http://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/co...

Yours faithfully,

Andy Platt

Is that delivery delay techy type of thing another NCC delaying tactic - the FOI response on the housing stuff is similarly affected? If it is it's rather childish and naive.

There is absolutely no reason nor justification for NCC to continue to treat individuals who submit FOI requests with such contempt. It is an absolute disgrace. The IC's office appear to be a completge waste of time too.
