Council tax arrears
Dear Blaby District Council,
This is a request for information under the Freedom of Information Act.
I would like to know if any serving councillors have council tax arrears. For each serving councillor that has council tax arrears, please provide the following information:
- The name of the serving councillor
- The total amount that they owe [and then, if possible, please provide a breakdown of that figure of how much they owe by financial year]
- If held, the reasons why the serving councillor has council tax arrears
- The action taken by the council to pursue the individual and the outcome
I would like to receive the information electronically. If you feel that a substantive response to this request is not possible within a reasonable time frame, or the request is too broad or too vague, I would be grateful if you could contact me and provide assistance as to how I could refine the request. Many thanks.
Yours faithfully,
Jenna Corderoy

Dear Ms Jenna Corderoy,
Freedom of Information Request – FOI-17-1365
I am writing regarding your request for information, which was received on
the 04/09/2017. We are unable to proceed with your request without
clarification of the information you are interested in.
We would like to know what you mean by 'arrears' ie:
- Still owe council tax liability from previous financial year
- are not up to date with instalment payments and behind by more than one
instalment
- council tax is technically all due on 1st April but the Council allows
payments by instalments so anyone who didn’t pay in full (or has paid in
full since 1st April) is in arrears
- summonsed for non payment in the current year
Please note if I do not receive any clarification within one month, I will
consider your request closed.
If you wish to discuss any of the above, please contact me quoting the
above reference number.
Yours sincerely
Emily Henderson, Information Governance Officer
