Dear Cornwall Council,
Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.
I am writing to request an internal review of Cornwall Council's handling of my FOI request 'Council Tax appeals'.
As the collector of Council Tax for the County of Cornwall you must hold this information, its also very easy for you to furnish information on those that have had reductions due to appeals as you rebate them back to the ratepayer, so you do hold this information!
A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address:
http://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/co...
Yours faithfully,
Jamie Dee

Dear Mr Dee
Following your request for a review of your Freedom of Information request
(918429) regarding Council Tax appeals, I can confirm that this has now
been carried out by an independent officer. Apologies for the time taken
to reach this stage.
The officer’s comments and findings were as follows:-
“I have reviewed the response to IAR-918429 and confirm that we do not
hold the information requested. The Valuation Office Agency provides
weekly update schedules detailing new, amended, historic and deleted
assessments. The changes to bands listed under ‘amended’ do not detail
those that have resulted from a successful appeal.
The only information held on Cornwall Council’s database is the banding
history and the date of the schedule. Unfortunately from this information
we cannot provide addresses where there has been a successful banding
appeal.
I am satisfied that this request was dealt with appropriately”
I trust that this fully answers your request. However, if this does not
resolve the matter to your satisfaction, you have the right to apply
directly to the Information Commissioner, the contact details of whom are:

Dear Freedom Of Information Mail,
You do hold the information as the valuation office inform you when someone has appealed down a banding and therefore you adjust their liability and issue a refund on any overpayment made.
On that basis, would you like to reconsider your answer?
Yours sincerely,
Jamie Dee
