What was the Hertfordshire Council's total salary bill in 2017/18 and the
previous 5 years?

 

How much was paid in bonuses to Hertfordshire Council staff in 2017/2018
and the previous 5 years?

 

Further to our acknowledgement of your request for information, I have
been asked to contact you for some further clarification on your request. 
Please can you provide an explanation of what you mean by “bonuses”, for
instance would this include salary increments?

 

As soon as we receive this clarification we will be in a position to
continue processing your request. If we do not receive a response to this
request for clarification, within 90 days of the date that this
correspondence was sent then we will close this request and any further
correspondence would be considered as a new request.

 

In the meantime, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to

Thank you for your email.

To clarify the meaning of bonuses: Bonuses is the plural of bonus. A bonus payment is usually made to employees in addition to their base salary as part of their wages or salary. While the base salary usually is a fixed amount per month, bonus payments more often than not vary depending on known criteria, such as achieving a performance target or for exceptional work.

Following my request for clarification of 21^st February, you gave me
further information on your definition of bonuses on 26^th February , you
said:-

 

To clarify the meaning of bonuses: Bonuses is the plural of bonus.  A

Your request for information has been considered under the Freedom of
Information Act 2000 I can confirm that Hertfordshire County Council does
hold the information you have requested, and can respond as follows:-

 

In regard to the Council’s total salary bill, this information is
published on our website, and is therefore refused under S21 of the
Freedom of Information Act, as the information is accessible by other
means, i.e. on our website.

 

Details of our ‘Employee Benefits Expense’ is available in the Statement
of Accounts.  This is made up of salary costs, on-costs, and net pension
costs.
