Please disclose whatever information is held by the council that justified
the pay increase £8,850 between 2015 and 2016.

I can confirm the figure of £8,850 was not a pay rise but was due to a
change of job and responsibility during the restructure of the leadership
team. The previous role of Chief Monitoring Officer was deleted and there
was a new post created at leadership level - Assistant Director Law. The
Assistant Director Law role was created to oversee a wider span of
workload with higher responsibility. The salary therefore met the
requirements and need of the restructure. The figure of £8,850 also
includes the 1% pay award which was implemented nationally in April 2016.

Dear PPD - FOI,

Thank you. My understanding was that conventionally an additional amount would be paid to an officer who took on the responsibility of Monitoring officer. Am I completely mistaken?

Yours sincerely,

wish to confirm that North East Lincolnshire Council holds the following
information:

The salary of the Monitoring Officer would be commensurate with the duties
required of a Monitoring Officer. Those duties are listed in the
constitution as linked (pg 91)
[1]https://www.nelincs.gov.uk/wp-content/up...

This would not always equate to an additional amount as the substantive
salary may be sufficiently commensurate with the duties to be undertaken
as a Monitoring Officer.
