Hi Christine

Yes, although the tone is humorous I have taken it seriously as there are
a couple of pertinent questions. There is a theory and some supporting
evidence both physical and in contemporary records that the Bristol
channel was affected by a significant tsunami event during 1607.

Hi Rob

Please see comment below from Andrew. Are you happy for this to be
progressed as a FOI ?

Is this really the correct usage of an FOI?

It seems to me that this is actually using the FOI legislation to make a
sales enquiry.

Surely in this case HP ought to know which of their client base have these
servers and systems, and ought not need an FOI to ascertain this?

Subject: FOI act request for Information - request summary IT

If you are not the appropriate person to respond to this enquiry in full
or in part - please let me know immediately. There is a limited period of
time allowed for a full response and you will put your colleagues under
unnecessary pressure by not doing so.

These requests for information were received on 19/08/2014 and are

Requester Email Address:

I am looking to be provided
with some information that will allow Hewlett Packard to ensure
your organisation has the appropriate coverage to maintain
uninterrupted access to firmware and SPP for your HP Proliant
Products.

From February 2014, Hewlett-Packard Company changed the way
firmware updates and Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP) on HP
ProLiant Server products are accessed. Select server firmware on
these products will only be accessed through the HP Support
Centre to customers with an active support agreement, HP
CarePack, or warranty linked to their HP Support Centre User ID
and for the specific products being updated.

In short if you do not have any active support agreement with
Hewlett Packard, or an authorised partner, then you will no
longer be able to access any of the aforementioned intellectual
property that is / will be made available. This could be of
particular concern if you are currently using a Third Party
Maintainer for support, again who is not a HP authorised.
To ensure that we (Hewlett Packard) are continuing to provide an
appropriate level of cover and continuity to your organisation,
could you please provide the following information under the
Freedom of Information Act 2000:
1. Name of current IT support provider – who maintain / service
your HP hardware
2. Date of Expiry of current Support Agreement
3. Value of Support Agreement awarded
4. Name of person who is in charge of IT maintenance / support
within your organisaton

With this information I will personally follow up with a formal
request to meet with the relevant person / persons to discuss the
information and ensure a suitable approach is taken to minimise
the risk and impact of these changes.
Thank you in advance for processing this request. I would be more
than happy to receive a response by post, or email. Please find
my contact details enclosed, if any further clarity is required
on this request.

If you have any concerns about any of the information being disclosed,
please contact Legal Services and request advice.

Please note that if the request is from a member of the press, or you
consider that your response would be of interest to the press or is high
profile in any way, we recommend that your draft response is approved by
the press office (Tim Borrett) before sending.
