Dear Mr Day,

Request for Information Reference Number: RFI/3009

Thank you for your request for information, which we received
on 30/10/2009.

The information you have requested is as follows:

Q - Please can I request confirmation of the total expenditure required
for the demolition of the Aveling and Porter building in Strood. I would
also like to request a breakdown of the costs involved in the demolition
of the building.

A - The Council has allocated a budget of £700,000 for the demolition of
the Main Civic Centre Building, the Aveling & Porter Building, Bridge
House and the Civic Suite and that scheme is included in the Council's
capital programme. The budget is not broken down between the buildings as
in terms of the demolition project they are being treated as a single
entity. Consequently, I regret I am therefore unable to provide you
with a breakdown in costs in relation to the Aveling & Porter building.

If you are unhappy with the information we have provided or wish to
complain about any other issue regarding the Freedom of Information Act
2000 please see the attached handout *Request for Information Complaints
Procedures*.

For further information on the Freedom of Information 2000, the exemptions
and how requests are dealt with, you can log onto the Medway Council
website at www.medway.gov.uk/freedomofinformation.

Yours sincerely.
