Costs recovered from overseas visitors
Dear University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust,
I would like information regarding how much money overseas visitors
managers (OVMs) with the Trust have recouped from overseas
visitors, between 01 October 2014 and this date, 07/07/2015.
I would also like to know a figure, possibly an estimate figure, as
to how much the establishment of an OVM team has cost the Trust
between those dates.
Yours faithfully,
MC Atkinson

Dear Ms Atkinson
Request for Information
Thank you for your Freedom of Information Act request, as received via
email on 7 September 2015 and acknowledged on 9 September 2015. For
information, the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust is one of the
largest and busiest NHS teaching Trusts in the country incorporating the
General Hospital, Glenfield Hospital and Royal Infirmary. The three
hospitals are staffed by almost 11,000 people serving around one million
people across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, and a further two to
three million people from the rest of the UK who come to us for the
specialist services we provide. During 2014/15 Leicester’s Hospitals
treated 1,229,500 (3,368 patients per day) – 97 more each day than in
2013/14.
Following discussion with colleagues within the Trust’s Finance
Directorate, I confirm that UHL NHS Trust holds information covered by
your request. Your request is set out in bold below, followed by the
Trust’s response:-
I would like information regarding how much money overseas visitors
managers (OVMs) with the Trust have recouped from overseas visitors,
between 01 October 2014 and this date, 07/07/2015.
£275,729 – this is based on amounts paid to the Trust by overseas visitors
between the two dates in your request.
I would also like to know a figure, possibly an estimate figure, as to how
much
the establishment of an OVM team has cost the Trust between those dates.
£49,500 - this is an estimate due to the period in question not relating
to full months and relates to staff who were in post for the whole of this
period. I am advised that the Trust’s OVM team has been established for
several years.
I hope that this information is helpful. If you require any further
assistance please do not hesitate to contact me. If you are dissatisfied
with the Trust’s response, you can contact the Director of Corporate and
Legal Affairs on Tel. No. 0116 258 8615 to request a copy of UHL’s Freedom
of Information Act complaints procedure.
In the event that you remain dissatisfied with the way in which the Trust
has handled any complaint that you may wish to make, we would advise you
of your right to complain to the Information Commissioner at the
Information Commissioner’s Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow,
Cheshire, SK9 5AF.
We must advise you that where we have provided information we have done so
subject to the provisions of the Re-use of Public Sector Information
Regulations 2005. Accordingly you must not re-use this information
without having the consent of the Trust. Where the Trust is prepared to
provide its consent then it may levy a charge for doing so. Should you
wish to re-use documents provided then you must make your request in
writing stating your name and your address for correspondence together
with the document that you wish to re-use and the purpose for which the
information is to be re-used.
Yours sincerely,
