Under the Freedom Of Information Act 2000, I hereby request full details of the cost of the recent update to the City Council's Internet site.

While writing, can I mention that there appears to be no information posted on the new site concerning the procedure to make an FOI request.

site. Your request was received on 21/05/2011 and I am dealing with it
under the terms of the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

Your request for information on the Council's website

We have now considered your request for information and a copy of the
information is below.

1) Hosting costs.

- The site is hosted by the City Council. No detailed hosting costs for
the individual service is held by the council as it is ran in a shared
environment.

2) Cost of software used to manage/maintain the website.

1. CMS Capital - Open source - no cost at point of acquisition

2. CMS Revenue - £10,560 p.a. - third party support

3. Search/analytics/link check/availability combined package up to
April 2011 - total cost over 5 years £25,278. Please note: the contract
for these services has now been superseded by a) internal development work
and b) one-off purchase of a Google mini appliance costing £2,500. c)
Google Analytics (no cost)

4. Integration hub £6,000 (one-off cost), now replaced by an
internally developed product.

5. Customised code development £800.

3) Cost of any redesign in the last 5 years.

- The website has been designed internally, so the only cost of any
redesign has been with regards to staff time only.

4) Details of role, location and number of staff
managing/maintaining/editing the website.

Roles within Business Technology (Please note that none of these roles are
focused entirely on Stoke-online web site development and have a broad
portfolio of work):

Team leader - 1 post as and when required to manage IT aspects of the site
- Business Technology.

Application support - 1 post as and when required to maintain the site
infrastructure and availability - Business Technology.

Roles within the PR and Communications Team

Web Editor (not yet in post) - Oversees, edits and promotes the content of
Stoke-online and encourages others to make full use of “new media” to
pro-actively promote the work and services of the council. The City
Council’s on-line champion.

Assistant Web Editor - Site Administrator for our internal and external
websites, trains and supports staff, looks after the styling of the
websites, supports the Web Editor on New Media.

77 authors within directorates are trained to create pages.
