Dear Ms Mitford,

Thank you for your email dated 24th June 2009 requesting information, regarding the consultation costs of The Way Forward strategy.

In addition to the on-line consultation we have organised a total of five consultation events to ensure that we have listened to the views of a broad range of voluntary and statutory stakeholders in developing the final violence against women strategy.

All of our consultation events have been facilitated by either GLA staff or the Child and Woman Abuse Studies Unit (CWASU) at London Metropolitan University. CWASU were commissioned by the GLA to develop the draft violence against women strategy. As consultation was one of the project deliverables within the CWASU strategy development contract I can confirm that there have been no additional consultation costs.

With the exception of the voluntary and community sector event, all consultation events have been held at City Hall so there have been no venue costs. The voluntary and community sector event was held at Amnesty International who do not charge for the use of rooms at their Human Rights Action Centre.

The only costs the GLA has incurred for the consultation of "The Way Forward" strategy has been for refreshments at each of the events.

Voluntary and Community Sector event: ?63.30
GLADA Women's Voices event: ?250 *
Statutory stakeholders consultation event: ?184. 12
Peer Outreach Workers Group meeting: ?18.47
Domestic Violence Co-ordinators event: (TBC but will be approximately ?150)

*This event was a joint event between the GLA Health Team, Housing Team and Community Safety Team to consult on their three respective strategies. As the Health Team organised the event, costs have come out of their budget.

Please find attached supporting documentation including:

-Copy of the violence against women contract specification
-Invoices and receipts
-Email from Amnesty re: catering costs

Following the close of the consultation GLA officers will be reviewing the on-line consultation responses along with reports from each of the events and producing a report summarising the consultation responses.

If you are unhappy with the way the GLA has handled your request, you may complain using the GLA's comments and complaints procedure, available at http://www.london.gov.uk/gla/comments/in...

Yours sincerely,

Yeliz Osman
