Costs of Olympic Torch Procession

Steve Walker made this Freedom of Information request to Warwickshire County Council

This request has been closed to new correspondence. Contact us if you think it should be reopened.

The request was successful.

Dear Warwickshire County Council,

Please can you tell me the cost to the council for allowing the Olympic Torch to pass through your area?

Please could you provide a breakdown of the costs such as extra pay for staff, extra cost of policing, road closures, branded bunting and other associated costs.

In addition, could you tell me what income, if any, was earned from the procession from parking, selling advertising space etc

And finally, if you did have any grant funding or sponsorship, can you tell me how much was provided by LOCOG?

I would like this information in electronic form. If you require further clarification, please let me know.

Yours faithfully,

Steve Walker

Dot Beezley, Warwickshire County Council

Dear Mr Walker
FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT 2000 - INFORMATION REQUEST
Your request for information has now been considered and I am able to
provide you with the information you have requested.
You asked us to provide details of the cost to the council for allowing
the Olympic Torch to pass through the county.
Warwickshire County Council spent £79,271 on the torch relay.  The
greatest part of this was the costs for traffic management pre-planning
and on the two days the torch was in Warwickshire, but also included such
things as free provision of park and ride facilities in Stratford,
barriers, traffic regulation orders etc.
Warwickshire Police paid for extra policing and the District and Borough
Councils paid for street bunting and some stewards.
If you wish to obtain information about the cost to the Police please
