Costs of Investigation into Serious Mugging.

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, West Midlands Police should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Dear West Midlands Police,

1) Can you tell us the total costs and time spent on your investigation into a Serious Crime in the Coventry Town Centre on 2nd November 2010 ?.
A man was robbed and badly beaten in the Coventry Town Centre and found unconscious in Barracks Car Park during the daytime at around 3-30pm.
He suffered Fractures to the skull, an Orbital Blow Out of the Eye Socket and Loss of Cheek Bone. His Phone and Money was also stolen.
The the Police attended when the Paramedics were with the man for 25 minutes and then he was taken by Ambulance to the Coventry University Hospital.
The Police have made no efforts to resolve this Serious Crime, which affects the Insurance of the Coventry Town Centre.

2) What guarantees or safeguarding measures are the Police taking, in regard to the safety of the Coventry Town Centre ?
Because if Serious Crime in a Town Centre cannot be dealt with by the Police, then no-one is safe in the Centre of Coventry.

Yours faithfully,

jessiebiach

This FOI was put here on the 16th March. Already today 19th March on the front page of the local Coventry Telegraph, it says, "Gang Sex Attack Horror", in Coventry Town Centre. I did say only 3-Days-Ago, that Coventry Town Centre is NOT SAFE, even though it has plenty of Cameras. The Attack was by 3-men on a 23-Year-Old Female.
The Attack happened on 15th January 2012 in a busy Town Centre between 9.55pm and 10.30pm, yet the Police have NOT found the Attackers yet. Did someone have to go to the news paper to get something done ?. Lots of us are fed up with the Police refusals of dealing with serious crime. When copper was stolen off the Cathedral roof it is reported very quickly, HOW does that work ????

Dear Freedom of Information,

Your answers to this FOI request are not in compliance with the actual FACTS of the Policing in Coventry and Public Protection Procedures. The Man whom was the Victim of the Serious Mugging, Robbery and Assault in the Coventry Town Centre on 2nd November 2010, was REFUSED a DUTY of CARE, inter alia by the Police. The Police did NOT follow the Ambulance to the Hospital in an attempt to gain information of his welfare. He could have died. The Police did NOT make any investigations whatsoever....and it gets worse, the Police did NOT report it as a Serious Crime. When the man put forward a Claim to the Criminal Injuries, the Police denied that there was a Serious Crime to the Criminal Injuries. The Police wrote to the Criminal Injuries saying that the Man had 'Minor Injuries', yet the Police were in attendance when the Ambulance and Paramedics tended the man for over 25-minutes at the scene. Including the man being in and out of consciousness and sustaining Fractures to the Skull, an Orbital Blow out, Loss of Eye Socket and Cheek Bone and Reduction of Eye Sight, including his Phone and Money being Stolen. The Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority had to write to the Police AGAIN and AGAIN in an attempt to gain the correct Police information of the CRIME. The Criminal Injuries gained PROOF of the Victims Injuries and the Crime from the Victims Hospital Records, the Paramedics Report and his GP's Records, which all gave PROOF that the Police did NOT REPORT, INVESTIGATE or give a DUTY of CARE TO THE VICTIM of a very serious crime. It states in the Local Paper that Crime is massively reduced in Coventry....Well if the Police are NOT logging and reporting extremely serious crimes.....then there is little chance of the Police recording crimes at all, including a REFUSAL to deal with crimes and take up complaints. There is further records of the West Midlands Police...refusing to take up extremely serious complaints of criminal offences. It is looking more like the Police will only take up complaints if your 'face fits'.

Yours sincerely,

jessiebiach

Dear Freedom of Information,

In the local paper dated 5th April 2012 it says Police have hailed a huge reduction in crime figures. According to the paper it says that last year there were more than 3,000 fewer victims of crime in the City. Also, it says that since March last year, more than 1,700 staff have left West Midlands Police, including crime levels are back to those not seen in a decade. Now either there have been too many Police working within the Force or may be crimes are not being dealt with and recorded. It does not make sense that there are a lot less Police staff, yet they are supposedly more efficient at clearing up crime. Either the previous management have been ineffective for over a decade or the new Chief Supt, Andy Nicholson is an exceptional Chief. We will wait and see.

Yours sincerely,

jessiebiach

The requester should contact West Midlands Police via whatdotheyknow and demand an internal review.

If this request is not then promptly responded to, either supplying the information or explaining why it can't or won't be supplied, then the requester should report the non-compliance to the Information Commissioner.

This force is gaining a bad reputation for its failure to handle FOIA requests in a timely manner and needs to get its act together.

Excuses of staff shortages, reorgansation, etc. don't cut the mustard.

Dear Freedom of Information,

The man who was the victim of serious injuries and robbery, had just left the Cofa Court Job Centre building in Coventry, when the attack and mugging happened. He had completed his annual medical in the building, when the attack happened, only a couple of minutes later. The Police refusals to investigate the serious attack, renders Cofa Court an unsafe place to go to, including the insurance claims of anyone attending the building, or in the building.

Yours sincerely,

jessiebiach
