Costs and headcount in Communications/PR on vesting day and 1st April 2024

Dave Orr made this Freedom of Information request to Somerset Council Automatic anti-spam measures are in place for this older request. Please let us know if a further response is expected or if you are having trouble responding.

The request was successful.

Dear Somerset Council,

When Somerset Council was formally vested on the 1st of April 2023 and 5 councils merged into one unitary council:

Q1. How many staff were "inherited" with a communications/public relations role (by headcount and by Full-Time Equivalent) when the 5 councils merged into 1?

Q2a. What was the overall budget for communications/public relations (incl all staffing costs, employment overheads, external spend, consultancy, agency costs etc) at the 1st of April 2023 (for the 23/24 year)?

Q2b. What was the actual 23/24 spend for communications/public relations (incl all staffing costs, employment overheads, external spend, consultancy, agency costs etc)?

As of the 1st of April 2024:

Q3. How many staff are there with a communications/public relations role (by headcount and by Full-Time Equivalent)?

Q4. What is the current overall budget for communications/public relations (incl all staffing costs, employment overheads, external spend, consultancy, agency costs etc) for the 24/25 year?

Yours faithfully,

Dave Orr

Somerset Council
