Dear Gwynedd Council,

On Friday 9th February Gwynedd Council undertook an operation with North Wales Police to inspect Taxi & Private Hire vehicles in the Bangor Area

Please can you answer the following questions that I believe would fall under a rightful request for information under the FOI procedure.

1) How many staff did your organisation deploy in this operation ?
2) What was the cost to staff this operation ?
3) Are your costs recoverable by another organisation ?
4) What Act/section of law were your officers using to stop moving vehicles in this op ?
5) How many vehicles were stopped in this operation ?
6) Please supply an outcome of each stop ?

Freedom of Information (Ref 888)

 

Thank you for your recent request. Please see below for the information
requested:

 

1) How many staff did your organisation deploy in this operation ?

There were four Gwynedd Council officers out undertaking on the spot taxi
inspections on the night in question.

2) What was the cost to staff this operation ?

Staff are not contracted to work out of hours , and do so voluntarily.
They do not receive overtime payments, but instead are offered time off in
lieu of time worked out of hours .

3) Are your costs recoverable by another organisation ?

No

4) What Act/section of law were your officers using to stop moving
vehicles in this op ?

Vehicles were stopped  bt North Wales Police, who were jointly involved in
the operation ,  using powers HGC under S.163 Road Traffic Act 1988.The
Police officers were all in uniform in marked Police Vehicles.

 

5) How many vehicles were stopped in this operation ?

10 vehicles.

6) Please supply an outcome of each stop ?

Detsils of all Vehicles stopped, and drivers spoken with  were recorded in
pocket books  at the time. Following on from this all notes taken
contemporaneously were written up and data inputed onto licence Vehicle
and driver  electronic files. Letters were sent out on the 16/2/24 to all
the owners of the Vehicles , according to the currenti nformation on file.

Complaints

 

If you are unhappy with the way the Council has handled your request, you
may ask for an internal review. Please contact me if you require an
internal review of your case. A request for a review will need to be
submitted within 40 working days from the date we have provided a
response. An internal review will be conducted by the Monitoring Officer
and we will aim to respond within 20 working days. However, if we are
unable to complete the review by this date, we will advise you
accordingly.

 

If you are not content with the outcome of the internal review, you have
the right to apply directly to the Information Commissioner for a
