Dear Canterbury City Council,

Please let me know the following:

2. How much income does the sale of the recycled material bring?

3. What would be the cost to the Council tax payer of collecting the recyclable material and disposing of it to tip, if it was mixed in with the non recyclable material by the originator of the waste.

4. If (3) above was carried out, what costs would the Council incur in terms of fines/surcharges or other costs due to not meeting it's recycling targets?

CCC FOISupport, Canterbury City Council

Dear Mr Rigden

Thank you for your Freedom of Information request.

Our response is as follows:

1. The annual cost of collecting , processing and transporting recyclable
waste?

ANSWER: Canterbury City Council pays its contractor approximately £2M per
annum to collect recyclables. The cost of bulking up, transporting to a
processing facility and recycling is paid for by Kent County Council under
a contract with Veolia and we do not hold the information you have
requested.

2. How much income does the sale of the recycled material bring?

ANSWER: Veolia retain the income from the sale of the material and we do
not hold this information.

3. What would be the cost to the Council tax payer of collecting the
recyclable material and disposing of it to tip, if it was mixed in with
the non recyclable material by the originator of the waste.

ANSWER: We do not hold this information.

4. If (3) above was carried out, what costs would the Council incur in
terms of fines/surcharges or other costs due to not meeting it's recycling
targets?

ANSWER: We do not hold this information
