Cost of treating botched non-surgical procedures
Dear Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust,
Under the FOI Act, I would like to request the following information regarding patients seeking treatment for physical complications from non-surgical procedures, such as nodule formation, discolouration, migration and herpetic outbreaks:
1) The total number of patients that have been treated at all your hospitals for botched non-surgical procedures for quarter 2 of 2023-2024.
2) The total cost of treating botched non-surgical procedures at all your hospitals for quarter 2 of 2023-2024.
3) The total number of patients that all of your hospitals have referred to private clinics to treat botched non-surgical procedures for quarter 2 of 2023-2024.

Further to your recent email acknowledged by the Trust on 26^th January
2024.
We passed your request for information onto the department concerned and
they have asked for some clarification, as follows:
Could you please clarify what you mean by ‘botched’?
In seeking this clarification from you we are entitled under the Act to
stop the clock on your request and the target date will be modified
dependent on the date we receive your response. If we do not receive the
clarification required within 1 month from the date of this email, your
request will be closed accordingly.

Botched refers to instances where patients have experienced adverse events, complications, or unsatisfactory aesthetic outcomes following the administration of dermal filler or botox injections. This includes but is not limited to, complications such as infections, allergic reactions, asymmetry, overfilling, underfilling, migration of the filler, granulomas, necrosis, or any other unintended and undesirable effects that may result from the procedures.
