Thank you for your recent request made under the Freedom of Information
Act in which you asked
“How much additional money has been spent deep cleaning Hamilton Square,
Birkenhead Town Hall and surrounding areas for the visit of HRH Harry and
What budget has this money come from?”
Please find Wirral Borough Councils response as follows
The total cost of the issues in relation to Street scene and cleaning and
minor decoration of the building is £9,006.38, the breakdown of this is as
· Street cleaning additional emptying of bins £1,500 this cost
will be met from within the provisions and variations of the existing
· Window cleaning and jet washing of the York Stone Plaza £2,675
this will be paid via the buildings existing Repair & Maintenance budget,
the cleaning of the York Stone Plaza is a regular occurrence to reduce the
risk of slips/falls.
· The temporary arrangements to provide an interim Flagpole and
the decoration of main doors cost £2,473 this cost will be met from the
Planned Preventative Maintenance budget and the replacement of the pole
was already planned.
· The cost of providing barrier controls and road closure’s was
£2,358.38 this cost is funded via the existing events budget.
