Cost of standard ICT equipment (ref DPR 1088)

The request was successful.

Daniel Hope

Dear Barnet Borough Council,

As a proud 'Armchair Auditor' and supporter of the Secretary of State for Communities call for 'savvy shopping, I make this request for information.

In paragraph of DPR 1088, the Council states:

"5.4 Other costs
The post holder will need to be equipped with necessary ICT equipment, including tablet, docking station, a hot-desk, a telephone and so on. The standard cost for such equipment is £1500."

My request is for all information the Council holds as to how this 'standard' round figure of £1500 for a simple laptop etc was arrived at.

Yours faithfully,

Daniel Hope

Daniel Hope

Dear Shodeke, Helen,

Thank you for your reply.

The DPR went further and spoke of desks, telephone, cost of wiring etc that was total £1500. Your reply only mentions ICT.

Can I have a list of all equipment purchased and associated installation costs that the DPR envisages.

Yours sincerely,

Daniel Hope

Niall Toru, Barnet Borough Council

Niall Toru, Barnet Borough Council

Dear Mr Hope,

Please can you clarify which DPR you are referring to.

I ask as, on my reading, DPR 1088 refers only to the cost of
"equipment", not to installation costs.

Thank you.

Dear Barnet Borough Council,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Barnet Borough Council's handling of my FOI request 'Cost of standard ICT equipment (ref DPR 1088)'.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address:

Yours faithfully,

Niall Toru, Barnet Borough Council

Dear Mr Hope,

As we have already stated, we are happy to review the handling of
your request.

However, we first need to understand the nature of your complaint.
As such I would be grateful if you could answer the question set
out in my email of 22 July. I am happy to discuss this by telephone
if this is easier.

Yours sincerely, Niall Toru 0208 359 7080

Daniel Hope

Dear Niall Toru,

All of my requests seem pretty clear to me. I am looking for the total cost of setting up the hot desk as referred in the DPR (which includes more than just computer hardware purchase costs).

The response contained only the cost of the computer hardware bits. I do not consider my request completed.

I can't see how I can be any clearer than that!

Yours sincerely,

Daniel Hope

Wilson Pointer, Catherine, Barnet Borough Council

Dear Mr Hope,

I am writing in relation to your request for internal review of the London
Borough of Barnet's (the Council's) response to your request under the
Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the `FOIA') for access to the following:

...the total cost of setting up the hot desk as referred [to] in the DPR
1088.

In your correspondence to the Council dated 12 July 2010 and 6 August
2010, you stated that you had only been provided with the cost of computer
hardware associated with the hot desks when you had in fact requested
figures for the cost of additional equipment such as telephones and the
installation of hot desks.

Accordingly, you requested that the Council review your request and
provide all of the information asked for. The Council's response to your
request for review is below.

Response

The Council can provide the following additional figures associated with
setting up a hot desk:

+------------------------------------------------------------------------+
| Item | Cost |
|-----------------------------------+------------------------------------|
|`Evo' Desk | £86.00|
|-----------------------------------+------------------------------------|
|`Aero' Adjustable Chair | £117.00|
|-----------------------------------+------------------------------------|
|Combination Locker (bank of 6) | £390.00 (£65 per individual unit)|
|-----------------------------------+------------------------------------|
|Cable Management Tray | £20.00|
+------------------------------------------------------------------------+

The cost of telephones has not been included in the above as the Council
has continued to use the telephones already in situ.

Installation of the furniture listed above was at no additional cost to
the Council as this service was included in the price by the supplier.

Installation of the computer hardware listed in the Council's previous
response to you was at no additional cost to the Council as it was
conducted by Council staff as part of their existing roles.

Your right of appeal to the Information Commissioner

We consider we have complied with our obligations under the FOIA.
However, if you remain dissatisfied with the handling of your request or
complaint, you have a right to appeal to the Information Commissioner at:
The Information Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane,
Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF (telephone: 08456 30 60 60 or 01625 54 57 45;
email [1][email address]; website: [2]www.ico.gov.uk).  There is
no charge for making an appeal.

Kind Regards,
