Dear Joanne Miles,

The deadlines you quote are actually the maximums that it should probably take, not a target. The legislation is quite clear on that. They are also quite clear that if you have the information you should just release it rather than procrastinate for 20 days plus.

I find it rather astonishing that you might not have the information easily available. It really is inconceivable, isn't it, that an organisation like OS would engage in a major rebranding exercise and launch without the expectation that they would be asked by someone "... and how much did it cost?"

Surely this information is available and, if so, it should be released now.

Many thanks
Feargal

Yours sincerely,

Feargal Hogan

Joanne Miles,

Dear Mr Hogan,

Request for information – FOI14527

Thank you for your e-mail of  ^ February 2015, requesting the following
information:

“Can you please provide details of the costs of the rebranding programme
launched this morning?

Please can you include details of any breakdowns of the costs such as
design agency, regenerating stationary, time and effort involved in
updating online presence, etc”

I confirm that Ordnance Survey does not hold information on internal staff
time costs of the rebranding programme.

I confirm that Ordnance Survey does hold the information you have
requested relating to external costs of the rebranding programme.  These
costs amount to £364,317.   This comprises:

·         £199,317 of expenditure on research, design and legal costs
associated with the new visual and verbal identity; and

·         £165,000 of expenditure on replacing existing collateral and
assets. This includes signage, business cards, stationery, plane decals,
stickers etc.

Note that in addition to the above costs there will be some cost
associated with the refresh and replacement of point of sale material in
key retail accounts and the inclusion of the new visual identity into the
paper map range, which has not yet been incurred.  These costs will be
incurred on a phased basis over the next 12 months and will be kept to a
minimum through careful stock management.  This expenditure would be
incurred in the ordinary course of business in any event regardless of the
rebranding.
