Dear Juliet  Ferguson,

Freedom Of Information Act 2000 - Information Request 7683

Your request for information received on 22/04/2013 has now been
considered and the information requested is enclosed.

You requested.

Please can you tell me the cost to the council for allowing the Olympic
Torch to pass through the area covered by the council?

Total cost for Dudley MBC was £16,876.76 including equipment (pedestrian
barriers and road signs) and staffing costs.

Please could you provide a breakdown of the costs such as extra pay for
staff, extra cost of policing, road closures, branded bunting

and other associated costs.

Hire of pedestrian barriers = £7362.50
Hire of various road signs = £2604.00
Hire of Motorola Communications System = £485.00
Costs for staff who worked during the relay were £6425.26 which included
overtime payments and time off in lieu.

In addition, could you tell me what income, if any, was earned from the
procession from parking, selling advertising space etc.

Please find attached Torch Relay Impact Evaluation for the West Midlands.
Section 1.14 of the report refers to the economic impact of the Torch
Relay and there are specific figures relating to Dudley Borough.

<<RFI - 7385 - Torch Relay Impact.pdf>>

And finally, if you did have any grant funding or sponsorship, can you
tell me how much was provided by LOCOG?

There was no grant funding for the Torch Relay and no sponsorship. Given
that the entire Torch Relay was commercially sponsored through the IOC and
LOCOG by Coca Cola, Samsung and BMW among others it was difficult to
access other sponsorship under the terms of the agreement between
authorities and the organisers.

LOCOG made no financial contribution to local arrangements. LOCOG
organised the event and engaged at a local level with partner
organisations who delivered the environment through which the Relay
passed.

If you have any queries or concerns then please contact me.
